Is it possible to minor league baseball when you are currently 32? I am wondering if there any age restrictions relating to minor league baseball? In addition, I notice that they have various posted somewhere on the internet regarding tryouts. For this reason, I know someone who is trying his dream of playing professional baseball, but it is quite unclear to him whether he has the ability or not to play competitively; however, if he does have that potential then he is constantly wondering if they would sign depending what club would take him. Lastly, it is ever too late to peruse your dreams, if not then what can he do to achieve them. In addition, forgot mention that he is a pitcher.
What do you have to do in order to enter the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft? My younger brother is going into 6th grade and he plays on a little league baseball team. He's a first baseman and he's really good. He's always saying that he wants to make it to the Major Leagues some day and that he wants to play for the New York Yankees. When he reaches high school in a few years and plays baseball there, what does he have to do to get drafted? Obviously, he has to play really hard in high school but what else will he have to do?
How did the New York Yankees become the richest baseball club in Major League Baseball? The New York Yankees are the richest baseball club in Major League Baseball and possibly the richest ball club in the world. The team is world millions of dollars and they pay the players very well and are currently building a New Yankee Stadium costing millions and millions of dollars. How did the New York Yankees become the richest baseball club in Major League Baseball and what is their success to being financally secured ball club?
How can I find former major league baseball players? I am interested in finding phone numbers, snail mail addresses or email addresses for former major league baseball players who had a very short, "cup of coffee" type career in either the 1970's or 1980's (less than two years - 100 or fewer AB in total career or less than 50IP). I just want to talk with them about their MLB experience.
Does anyone know how minor league baseball contracts work? I'd like to know, when someone gets drafted into the farm system of a Major League Baseball team, how it works. How long can those contracts last? How much is the league minimum (for Single A, Double A and Triple A teams)? And mostly... I wonder how it works, if you make it to the big leagues (i.e. MLB), is there a contract extension? I seem to remember that when you start playing for a Major League Team, you owe them 6 or 7 years of your carreer at league minimum salary... (like Pujols, being payed for a long time by the Cardinals for less than 400,000$ a year)... But I might be wrong... If anyone can answer... I'd love to hear what they have to say. Thanks
Which Major League Baseball stadium is your favorite to visit for a night game? Out of the 30 Major League Baseball stadiums in MLB, which stadium would you say is your favorite stadium to visit for a night game and why? My favorite MLB stadium to visit for a night game is Turner Field in Atlanta where the Atlanta Braves play baseball because they stadium has good seats, the steating is comfortable, and I feel safe going outside the stadium at nighttime.
Why is there such a big fuss about the number of blacks in major league baseball? I guess the number of blacks playing pro ball has fallen. People actually are keeping count? What for? Do you think that the country is discriminating in baseball? You never hear anyone complaining about the numbers of other races playing other major league sports. When will we ever just be americans? Who cares which race dominates which sport? I think that the positions in pro sports go to whoever is most talented. Do we really need affirmative action is pro sports?
Why did Major League Baseball disable digital download of baseball game broadcasts? Last year, Major League baseball had a wonderful feature: For $3.99 each, you could download any baseball game during the regular season (.wmv format), as well as all post-season games and a wide variety of famous games from the past. This year, that feature has disappeared. I wonder why. It is absolutely a no-lose proposition for MLB, because there are bound to be quite a few people like myself who are willing to pay a modest sum for the ability to build a personal library of baseball game broadcasts.
Can a major league baseball player throw a ball in the air from one end of my hallway to the other? Please help me settle an office bet. The hallway outside my office is 133.5 feet long, and the ceiling is 8 feet high. Can a major league baseball player (specifically, Ivan Rodriguez, the catcher for the Detroit Tigers) throw a ball and hit the wall at the other end of the hallway without it bouncing on the ground first? I say yes, and have an expensive bottle of irish whiskey riding on it. Any help you can provide with proving me right (I hope) would be much appreciated.
How many World Series have there been all together for Major League Baseball? I've been searching a lot of websites, but I can't find how many World Series there have been for Major League Baseball. I'd be greatful for an answer. THANKS! ... Or if you could tell me when the first World Series occurred that'd be helpful, too. All the websites I have found have been a little irrelevant so far, but I'll keep searching.
What items do the Major league baseball players have to purchase and which items are provided for them? I was wondering if Major League Baseball players have to pay for their own bats, gloves, shoes, etc....which items are provided for them by the team and which items do they have to purchase. I see many baseball players with their gloves personalized and I was wondering if they have to pay for their items or if the baseball club pays for them. What about the catchers....do they have to pay for the chest guard, mask, knee supports...etc?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thank you in advance!!! :)
How Do Major League Baseball Teams Determine their home dugout? Why do Major League Baseball teams choose the 3rd or 1st base side dugout at their home stadium? Are there rules for this? Or is it just random? Meaning whether the dugout is on the 1st or 3rd base side. Are there rules for this? Or are the teams free to choose on their own?
What would you rather see at a major league baseball game? If you went to a major league baseball game would you rather see a hitter safe at first with a bunt single then steal second and third base and come home on a sacrifice fly, or see a hitter hit a 500 foot homerun? No right or wrong response and best answer will go to the person with the best explanation
I am looking for the average annual salary of a Major League Baseball umpire.? I have already found a number of sites giving me the ranges of salaries - from as low as $75,000 to start to as high as $400,000 for top ranking veterans. I understand how elite of a position it is, and am trying to settle an argument. I would love if someone could tell me as close to current as possible figure for the average salary of Major League Baseball umpires. Thanks.
What makes a major league baseball player? While watching the league playoffs, I wondered where did these guys come from? They are from different countries, ethnic groups, religions and have a wide variety of ages and physiques. Have you read a book, or studied baseball players and baseball for a long time? Did you learn what brings one young boy up to the major leagues, while another never leaves the sand lot or little league?
Is minor league baseball better than college? Ok. Let's say you have the best college baseball team in the country. Are they equivalent to say... a Class A minor league team? How do Class A and the college baseball team stack up?
Do you remember how much fun little league baseball was? My point of this is this. Major League Baseball has created baseball acadamys in Latin America and the Pacific Rim. In a place where soccor is king, baseball has flourished. Now, what if baseball would open baseball schools in Europe and gave kids a chance to play the great game and see how much fun the game could be. Would baseball make some noise?
In your lifetime, do you ever see another Major League Baseball team expand into Canada? In 1969, the Montreal Expos became the Major League Baseball team to play in Canada and in 1977, the Toronto Blue Jays became a Major League Baseball Team. Although the Toronto Blue Jays have played in Canada for 30 years, the Montreal Expos left Montreal in 2004 and relocated to Washington, DC. Although there is only one MLB Team in Canada, do you ever see another MLB Team either as an expansion team or as a relocation team in Canada? Why or why?
Should Brooklyn have a Major League Baseball team again? In the 1950's, the Queens and Brooklyn portions of New York City lost their teams, to San Francisco and Los Angeles. Within 5 years of that, Queens replaced the Giants with the Mets. BUT, Brooklyn never did replace the Dodgers. So, 50 years later, Brooklyn still doesn't have another Major League Baseball team. Do you think they should have another team? Is it only fair for them to have a team again since Queens got to have another team?
Should Little League Baseball players join a union to enforce TV networks to pay them to telecast games? ESPN, Disney, & others are making millions & millions of dollars making money off kids playing the sport they love. The adult major leagues are playing a child's game...baseball. Shouldn't the kids be paid for playing in LLB, even if the money goes into a savings account which the kids can't collect till they are 18? Should the kids join a union to egt what they want to..."Get a piece of the action!" I think so! All the business people exploid kids for a profit, it time for the kids to strike back and, "Get a piece of the action!" It gives them good business practice for when they get older. They still enjoy playing baseball. Would you want money hungry people/businesses/corporations making money off you kid[s]?
