Why do the Americans Have a "WORLD SERIES BASEBALL" not that many countries play the game?
I can understand the Olympics, and the soccer and rugby world cups. All are world games.

- Because they like to make things sound bigger and better.
- name brand
- i am agreed with the one above me ......
- What would you have us call it? "A Few Countries From Around the World Series"?
- It's an old term. In the early 1900s baseball was just in the US. It was understood whatever team won the championship was the best team in the world, hence "world series."
- While it may not be played by all the countries of the world, it is played in most Latin American countries as well as quite a few countries in the Far East. It is also being played in Europe. So, to say it is played in only a few countries is not quite accurate. But, I do agree with your premise.
- why does it bother you so much? there plenty of people from diffrent conturins that play in mlb.
- Is there A bigger Prize for Baseball? I Think not and its a world game, many players from around the world want to play in the MLB Get me Some Coffe

- Because MLB is the best, the best can call their championship whatever they want. They should change the name to "Universe series" now.
- Well first of all its because Baseball is americas game. Its considered americas past time for a reason. Its just like in football when the team wins the super bowl, they are now world champions, same in basketball. And its because baseball does have a lot of players from around the world, and the only other place that there is a big league, is in Japan and the standouts from their usually come over to play in the MLB.
- This has been an argument of mine for years. If this were a true World Series, then the top teams from those contending countries should have some sort of playoffs to determine the best team in the world. Almost like the Olympics, and Little League. To have players come from other countries and play in America, shouldnt account for the title of World Series.
- Bc its the best players from around the world that come to Amercica to play and make the big bucks. So therefore I guess, they consider it the World Series, considering you have players from Japan, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Canda, etc all playing against each other.
- The easiest answer is tradition. Thats the only reason baseball managers still wear uniforms, also. Back when the World Series was founded, it was between the best teams in the world. That may not be the case anymore, but professional baseball holds onto its traditions extremely tight. In some ways, the name still does fit though. It's true that only teams from the US and one from Canada are eligible, but each one of those teams is incredibly diverse with players from many different countries.
- because the other countries are too poor to make their on baseball league
- because major league baseball is the best baseball league in the WORLD.
