Cartoon Baseball

Why do they call it the WORLD SERIES in baseball when there are only teams from the USA & Canada playing?

I think it should be just the MLB Championship Series! They have the World Cup in Soccer which is Nation against Nation thus they can use the term WORLD CUP. MLB is not nation against nation and does not have all the best players in the world Japan & Cuba have some great players that are not in MLB. If you take for example the Spanish or English Soccer league and call the top team WORLD CHAMPIONS because they seem to have the best players in the world would this be correct (Not!). We need to correct the Championship Series as we sound a bit stupid calling it the World Series when it's really not!

  1. It originally was a worldwide event, but it ended up just going on in america and canada.
  2. did you ever notice that all the best players in the world play in the league?
  3. Because the best players in the world play in the MLB. A team might be located in Seattle, but that doesn't mean that the players on that team are from Seattle.
  4. Because World Series Sounds better than MLB Championship Series. DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. Good question. It probably should be called the MLB Championships, but that will never happen!
  6. because the US still has the best baseball teams in the world, despite what the spring-training global tournament might have indicated to you in March.
  7. yeah, its because the players are from around the world. Albert Pujols--Dominican Republic Derek Jeter--United States Johan Santana--Venezuela etc... he's right
  8. Only the teams are in the U.S. and Canada. The players are from all over the WORLD. Now, after the WBC, there will be more players from other parts of the world because they got to show-case their talent. But the teams will stay here in America just like in basketball and football and hockey.
