Cartoon Baseball

What happened to the other companies that used to make fitted pro baseball caps/hats?

On eBay and various baseball memorabilia sites I learned that other MLB pro cap/hat companies used to exist besides New Era, such as Roman Pro, Sports Specialties, and Tim McAuliffe/KM Pro. I do remember the first two brands from my childhood in the 90's but they disappeared by the end of that decade. What happened to those companies? I can't find anything about them online.
